For 19-year-old Bobbi Beaumont, joining the Combined Authority Internship Scheme was the perfect way to kick-start her career in finance. After leaving the classroom to gain real-world experience, she joined Realise Finance in Peterborough — a growing local firm making the most of Combined Authority support to nurture young talent.

“At first it was daunting, but I’ve learned so much — from using accounting software to working with clients and growing my confidence,” said Bobbi. “It’s been an amazing first step and has opened the door to a future career in accountancy.”

Like many graduates, Beth found most roles asked for experience she didn’t yet have. This six-week fully funded internship gave her that vital first step — real responsibility in a small business, hands-on learning, and the confidence to build new skills.
